Help? Time for some REAL help!

I'm just going to lay the gauntlet down here and now!

The 'experts' you've been dealing with in retail computer stores, Australia wide... no personal offence, mostly speaking, don't actually have a clue about the inner workings of what they're selling you.

Ask them yourself... when did you last take it apart? What are some of the brands of the internal components such as the wireless controller? Have they ever changed a wireless controller before? Type & speed of the memory? Why & when is that actually important?

Even simply ask them what kind of hard disk or SSD is in it? (they won't know without going to lengths to dig in to it and when they find out, it's still not going to mean much to them anyway).

The majority of the products, most sales people have never even seen outside of the box... and you listen to them for your IT advice?

I'm not even joking!

The majority don't know much about IT at a technical level. If they did they simply wouldn't be in sales and as nice as they may be, most have little to do with any 'actual real world use' of the products they're selling you. Every answer for your questions is simply what they think 'might' be the case, not what actually will occur.

I promise you, there is a MASSIVE MASSIVE difference between the two different levels of knowledge.

They'd be up-in-arms defending themselves right now but it's like a fish trying to understand the bowl it is in. I know this because I used to be one of them too... handing out advice on computers, thinking I knew it all (I was a long way off!) and I've been in IT roles for 20 years now! That said, there is always more to learn when it comes to computers.
